Mechanical Design
Capabilities
- Thorough documentation in AutoCAD
- Complete mechanical assemblies
- Chassis/enclosure design and fabrication
- Faceplate/panel design and fabrication
- Production test fixtures
Fabrication
jproto has a complete machine shop in-house, and can fabricate parts from a wide variety of materials from plastics to stainless steel. Having the shop in the next room makes prototyping efficient - no delays in the design process. Design modifications can be done on the fly when issues arise with little impact to the schedule. A wide variety of stock materials and fasteners allow fabrication to start immediately.
Example Projects
Test Fixtures
| Essential for Debug and Design Verification, a test fixture allows full access to the test board while providing the neccesary power, I/O requirements, airflow, and mechanical stability. Production Test Fixtures can be fully automated to perform any number of "Go/No-Go" tests for units coming off the assembly line.

Panels & Faceplates
| jproto has designed and fabricated many panels and faceplates to accompany the PCB's designed here. Since Rev0 prototypes are often low quantity, it makes sense to have the PCB designer build the "one-off" mechanicals as well, avoiding the NRE and low quantity costs of a production machine shop.

Sockets & Interposers
| Interposer PCB's take advantage of component sites to introduce new functionality to an existing design, replace obsolete package types with current technology, or allow for more designed-in variants of an assembly without having to respin the host design. Where available connectors do not fit the existing geometry, a custom socket is designed.

Custom HeatSinks
| When nothing off the shelf suits the application, jproto can fabricate a unique thermal solution. A custom heatspreader maximizes heat dissipation in any thermal situation. Cavities in the heatsink are machined to touch down on as many devices as required, and the fins surface area and orientation are designed to take full advatage of the airflow.
